The servants of the East India Company amassed great wealth by abusing the system. It separated power from responsibility; Under this system, the administration was divided between the Company and the Nawab but the whole power was actually concentrated in the hands of the Company. Nizamat function (police and judicial) was with Nawab but it was also undertaken by the Company. For Nizamat functions, the British gave the additional responsibility of deputy Nazim to Mohammad Raza Khan. The deputy Nazim could not be removed without the consent of the company.
