NSAP is a social assistance programme for poor BPL households for the aged, widows, disable and also include provision for one time assistance in the case of death of the primary bread winner in a BPL family.
Allocation of funds for implementation of the scheme of NSAP was under the budget heads of Ministryof Finance and Ministry of Home Affairs till 2013-14.
Funds were released in a combined manner for all the schemes under NSAP to the states and UTs byMinistry of Finance and Ministry of Home Affairs respectively from their budget heads.
