Nai Talim or basic education is a principle promoted by Mahatma Gandhi which states that knowledge and work are not separate.
It is a holistic approach of developing body, mind and soul, by making a productive art, craft or community engagement activity as the centre of learning.
Recently, Indian Vice President has quoted Mahatma Gandhi‘s Nai Talim and stressed that youth and children should not just be trained to acquire skills but should be taught to respect human labor and social harmony and tolerance. One must learn to respect every job.
Also, Union HRD Minister had launched a book and curriculum on Gandhiji's 'Nai Talim' to mark the Teachers Day on September 5, 2018.
The title of the book is 'Experiential Learning - Gandhiji's Nai Talim'.
