In 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) also known as Paris Agreement concluded in Paris under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The agreement is scheduled to go into effect from 2020. Therefore, statement 1 is incorrect.

The agreement aims to hold the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre- industrial level and on driving efforts to limit it even further to 1.5°C.
