‘Net metering’ is sometimes seen in the news in the context of promoting the
production and use of solar energy by the households/consumers
use of piped natural gas in the kitchens of households
installation of CNG kits in motor-cars
installation of water meters in urban households
Net metering (also known as net energy metering) is a solar incentive that allows to store energy in the electric grid.
Solar power generated by each individual household, industrial, Institutional, commercial or any other type of buildings can be used to partly fulfil the requirement of the building occupants and surplus, if any, can be fed into the power grid. This consumption and production of energy is measured by Net Metering/Gross metering facilities to support solar rooftops installations.
