NERUDP is being implemented in the capital cities of 5 North Eastern States viz. Agartala (Tripura), Aizawl (Mizoram), Gangtok (Sikkim), Kohima (Nagaland) Shillong (Meghalaya). Priority areas include Water Supply, Sewerage and Sanitation, and Solid Waste Management. The scheme is being implemented with the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB). ADB contribution is 70% of the cost as loan to the Government of India.
