Which among the blow given statements is/are true in regard to Aryans?
1) Originally the Aryans seems to have lived somewhere in Steppes stretching from southern Russia to Central Asia
2) We know about the Aryans in India from the Rig Veda
3) Aryan names appear in Kassite inscriptions of about 1600 B.C. found in some parts of North India along the Indus plains.
Choose the appropriate code:
1,2&3 only
1&2 only
1&3 only
1 only
Only statements 1&2 are correct.
Aryan names appear in Kassite inscriptions of about 1600 B.C. from Iraq and in Mitanni inscriptions of the fourteenth century B.C. from Syria.
The Aryans in India are known from the Rig Veda. This text is the earliest text of the Indo-European languages. The Indo-Aryans were engaged in fighting with the pre-Aryans and amongst themselves. The Rig Vedic people had a superior knowledge of agriculture and they were a predominantly pastoral people.
So as per Rig Veda, an Aryan is the one who follows the ancient law and rites of Father Manu which is the path of Agni. Vedic Aryans viewed Manu as their ancestral figure and ideal human, and they also prayed not to move away from Manu's path as mentioned in Rig Veda
But it should be noted here – so far no such inscriptions have been found in India. A little earlier than 1500 B.C. the Aryans appeared in India. We do not find clear and definite archeological traces of their advent.
Hence option 2nd is correct.
