Explanation:

1. The Citizenship Amendment Act , 2019  has amended the Citizenship Act, 1955 to give eligibility for Indian citizenship to illegal migrants who are Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan, and who entered India on or before 31 December 2014.
2. The Citizenship Act, 1955, prescribes three ways of losing citizenship viz. renunciation, termination and deprivation. If a citizen has, within five years after registration or naturalisation, been imprisoned in any country for two years, his citizenship is compulsorily terminated by the Central Government.
