The best way to improve crop production in India is to increase the crop intensity ie by increasing gross sown area. Which is not the hindering factor involved in improving the crop intensity?
Infertile soil.
Deficiency in moisture, especially in rain fed region.
Insufficient usage of manures and fertilizers.
Large tracts of black soil.
In fact black soil is an added advantage in improving the crop intensity as it requires very less irrigated or rainfall water as it has a very good capability to retain moisture. The usage of manures and fertilizers per hectare is quite low in India compared to other countries like China, Japan etc.
