The Kadaknath or Kali Masi is an Indian breed of chicken local to Jhabua and Dhar districts of western Madhya Pradesh, where it is known as "Kali masi" ("fowl having black flesh").Despite to its high protein and very low fat and cholesterol levels, it is in high demand. Its fat content, is 0.73 — 1.03% compared to 13 to 25% in most other chicken breeds. This famous kadaknath chicken from Jhabua District of Madhya Pradesh, India has now got a geographical indication (GI Tag) tag. It was approved by Indian government on 30 July 2018.It is the only animal to have a GI Tag in India.
