The Vice-President may be removed on any ground considered sufficient by the two Houses of the Parliament (as no ground has been mentioned in the Constitution for his removal). In both the cases of removal of the President and the Vice-President, the power of removal is lodged in the two Houses of Parliament, and coordinated action is called for on their part to effect the removal of either dignitary.Article 67 (b) states that – ‘a Vice President may be removed from his office by a resolution of the council of States passed by a majority of all the then members of the council and agreed to by the House of the People’.In other words, Vice President can be removed by a resolution of the Rajya Sabha passed by an absolute majority (more than 50% of total membership) and agreed to by a simple majority (50% of present and voting members) of the Lok Sabha.
