The earth’s interior has unevenly distributed radioactive elements. They are gradually decaying into daughter elements and generate immense heat in the transitional process. Pyrospheric convectional currents induced by the geothermal heat unleash persistent hammering impact. It makes continental and oceanic plates split apart and produce various landforms. The accumulated heat decides the size of the convectional cells and magma plumes, their intensity and directions of plate movements. It sets the large crustal components into Wilson Cycle and pass through distinct six stages:
1. The Rift Valley Stage 2. The Red Sea Stage 3. The Atlantic Stage 4. The Pacific Stage 5. The Mediterranean Stage 6. The Suture Stage
The tangentially moving plates interact and produce constructive, destructive and conservative margins. Converging plates harvest submarine trenches, fore arc basin, volcanic archipelago, accretion prism and epicontinental seas. Diverging plates produce mid oceanic ridges and rift zones, very well perceptible in alternate strips of normal and reverse polarity on the benthic surface. Slip passing plates produce strike slip faults and transform faults. Rift valleys and block mountains are formed when plates drift apart. Such horst and graben topographies with variable magnitudes are found on both land and sea floor. 18 km3 geomaterial oozes out of the vents and newly developed chasms along the zones of accretion and 1.2 square kms of benthic surface is consumed annually into zones of consumption. Colliding plates lead to lithological adjustments of land blocks and induce lots of radial adjustments too.
Convection driven dynamo mechanism makes earth behaves like a magnet. Magnetic north and south poles give magnetic axis and graticule. All plates tend to slide along the magnetic lines of latitude and longitudes and justifiably explain the mechanism of slithering plates. John Tuzo Wilson and WJ Morgan were the first one to put forward a concrete idea about dynamics of plates(1965). They were prompted well on the reasonable findings of Dietz and Herry Hess on sea floor spreading. Most of the partly explained Wegener’s findings (1912) and connotations were humbly addressed and a complete theory on plate tectonics was shared with all.
