Since May 30th, rains, floods and landslides have killed 373 people in the state - 223 since August 8th. According to the National Disaster Management Authority, 54 lakh people have been affected by the massive floods in the 14 districts of the state ...13 lakh people have been forced to shelter in relief camps. The damage is estimated at more than Rs 20,000 crore.... forcing the Centre to declare the devastating floods a "calamity of severe nature".
