Indian Air Force conducted a series of flight trials of Beyond Visual Range Air to Air Missile 'Astra' from September 26th to October 3rd at the Integrated Test Range in Balasore. Designed and developed by Defence Research and Development Laboratory , ASTRA is country’s first indigenous beyond Visual Range Air to Air Missile.

Astra has been tested six times under different launch conditions and ranges as part of the final development trial. 30 and other air platforms.The missile is expected to be inducted into IAF in 2019.
