Statement 1 is correct: The Jal Jeevan Mission was launched on August 15, 2019. It is a central government initiative under the Ministry of Jal Shakti which aims to ensure access to piped water for every household in India by 2024. The goal of JJM is to provide functional household tap connection (FHTCs) to every household with service level at the rate of 55 litres per capita per day (lpcd). Statement 2 is correct: At the start of the mission in 2019, out of a total of 19.20 Crore rural households in the country, only 3.23 Crore (17%) had tap water supply. 5.50 Crore rural households have been provided with tap water connections. Presently, 8.74 Crore (45.5%) rural households across the country have tap water supply.
