Explanation:

The programme will lead to reducing surface runoff of rainwater, increasing recharge of ground water and better availability of water in rainfed areas resulting in incremental rainfed agriculture productivity, enhanced milk yield and increased cropping intensity through better convergence related programmes in project areas. Neeranchal will support the Watershed component of PMKSY which was implemented by the Department of Land Resources (DoLR) in 28 States. The Neeranchal project was approved by the cabinet in October, 2015 with a total budget outlay of Rs.2142 crore with the Government share of Rs.1071 crore and the rest 50% by the World Bank.
