Which of the following statements is incorrect as far as the Critical Wildlife Habitats (CWHs) are concerned?
The Forest Rights Act, 2006 (FRA), defines the CWHs as the ‘areas of national parks and sanctuaries, where it has been specifically and clearly established, case by case, on the basis of scientific and objective criteria, that such areas are required to be kept as inviolate for the purposes of wildlife conservation’.
In order to notify a CWH, the Act requires the state governments to establish that the presence of the rights holders is causing irreversible damage to the wildlife and their habitats.
The Chief Wildlife Warden of a state will notify an Expert Committee for the purpose of identification of the CWHs in a national park or sanctuary.
The CWH notification has to go through public scrutiny, once consultations have been carried out
