What is “Soil-to-Soil”?
New technology to create soil artificially.
New technology to mitigate pollution in production of biofuels.
New technology to check soil erosion.
New technology to transform locally one soil type to other soil type.
Scientists from IIT Kharagpur have developed a technology through which the pollution associated with biofuels industry can be mitigated. The pollution occurs because of chemical treatment of ligno-cellulosic components. The new technology will degrade lignin using enzymes and hence no chemical treatment would be required thereby reducing the pollution level of biofuel industry. Lignins are complex organic polymers found in cell walls of plants. The residual biomass will be used as biofuel. The technology has been named as “Soil-to-Soil”.
