Consider the following statements about Acid rains and identify the correct one/ones
1. Acid Rain is generally caused by mixing of Nitrogen and Sulphur oxides with the atmospheric moisture.
2. Though mostly caused by excess release of these oxides by humans, acid rains are also a natural phenomenon.
3. Acid rain corrodes the metals and makes soil alkaline in nature.
Select the correct answer using codes given below
1 and 2 only
1 and 3 only
2 and 3 only
All of the above
Acid rain can be caused naturally as Nitrogen oxides are produced during lightening and Sulphur oxides during volcanic eruptions. They can combine with moisture to give rise to weak nitric or sulphuric acid. Acid rains makes soils acidic. Indian soils being slightly alkaline are less affected by the acid rain.
