Gatka is the name of an Indian martial art associated with the Sikhs of the Punjab who practice an early variant of the martial art. Silambam is a traditional Tamilan martial art based on stick fighting. This style supposedly originates from the Kurinji Hills in present day Tamil Nadu 10,000 years ago, where natives used bamboo staves to defend themselves against wild animals.
