Pacific Ocean accounts for almost 30-35% of the tropical cyclones in the world. At times these tropical depressions steer into the Bay of Bengal Region and trigger Tropical Cyclones here. Also, due to more salinity and presence of Cold Somali current, the Arabian Sea gets heated slowly compared to Bay of Bengal region thereby creating less conducive conditions for Cyclones. Finally, whatever cyclones are formed in the Arabian Sea strike the African Coast under the influence of Easterlies and easterly jet stream.
