The No Detention Policy announced under RTE has will be removed from next academic year. Under the RTE, no child will be detained or held back in any class or expelled till the completion of elementary education up to class 8th. The policy is part of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation or CCE under the RTE Act. The No Detention Policy was implemented to prevent dropouts from school and reduce stress level among the students. The TSR Subramanian Committee on education had observed that No Detention Policy should be applicable only up to 5th standard.
