DRDO's Man Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM)

Context: Recently, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight-tested Man Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM).
Key Points

• This move gave a major boost to Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and strengthen the Indian Army.
• It is an indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget missile.
• The missile was launched from a man portable launcher integrated with thermal site and the target was mimicking a tank.
• The missile hit the target in direct attack mode and destroyed it with precision.
• The missile is incorporated with state-of-the-art Miniaturized Infrared Imaging Seeker along with advanced avionics.

Aakash-New Generation (NG) Missile
Context: Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight-tested the New Generation Akash Missile (Akash-NG) from Integrated Test Range (ITR) off the coast of Odisha.

• Surface to-Air Missile
• A successor to the Akash and Akash-1S series

• A Dual-pulse solid rocket motor
• A canisterized launcher 

An AESA Multifunction targeting radar to improve its probability of kill with a smaller ground operations and logistics footprint

• The development of the Akash-NG (New Generation) was approved in September 2016.
• Akash-NG will have an improved reaction time and higher level of protection against saturation attacks.
