Consider the following statements about 'Rajatrangini' and identify the incorrect one
It is a poem containing the chronological history of rulers of Kashmir
It was composed by author named Kalhana
It is written in Sanskrit
It is full of 'Prashastis' i.e. accounts showering praises on the rulers and is hence of little value for historians.
Prashastis refers to those compositions about the rulers that were composed to praise them. The prashastis generally depict rulers as valiant, generous, benevolent etc. Hence these prashastis are of little historical significance to those who want to study history scientifically. Compared to these prashastis, the Rajatrangini is based on information gathered from various sources like inscriptions, documents, eyewitnesses etc. and is thus a true picture of the rulers. It at times is openly critical of certain rulers and their policies. It is regarded by historians as the best source to study the history of Kashmir.
