The National Mission for Justice Delivery and Legal Reforms was set up in August, 2011 toachieve twin goals of (i) Increasing access by reducing delays and arrears; (ii) Enhancing accountability through structural changes and by setting performance standards and capacities. Five strategic initiatives: (i) Outlining policy and legislative changes (ii) Reengineering of procedures and court processes (iii) Focusing on human resource development (iv) Leveraging information and communication technology and tools for better justice delivery (v) Improving infrastructure • The Mission has adopted a coordinated approach for phased liquidation of arrears and pendency in judicial administration which, inter-alia, involve better infrastructure for courts including computerization, increase in strength of subordinate judiciary, policy and legislative measures in the areas prone to excessive litigation, re-engineering of court procedure for quick disposal of cases.
