The Pattiseema lift irrigation project in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh is a lift irrigation project that will transfer excess water from Godavari to Krishna. The Godavari river is the most flooded river of south India while the Rayalseema region of Andhra (in Krishna basin) is one of the most drought hit regions of South India. The project will provide irrigation water to 7 lakh acres of farmlands thereby providing livelihood to many. The canal is Polavaram right canal in which 80 TMC of water will be pumped using 24 heavy duty pumps at the Pattiseema pump house during monsoon season to be carried to Rayalseema.
