Monsoon connotes the climate associated with seasonal reversal in the direction of winds. Which of the following statements about this phenomenon is incorrect?
The reversal is due to differential heating of land and sea that creates different air pressure zones in different seasons in and around the Indian subcontinent.
The reversal of winds is at lower atmospheric level only and the upper air circulations do not exhibit the typical seasonal reversal.
The south west monsoonal winds are replaced by North east returning monsoonal winds.
India gets 72% of its rainfall during the monsoon season.
Godavari is a consequent river i.e. it originated after the geological strata over which it flows. The other three rivers are Antecedent. Antecedent is also known as inconsequent drainage. In antecedent drainage, a part of a river slope and the surrounding area uplifts but the river maintains its original slope. This is done by the process of cutting through the uplifted portion (by river), which results into deep and narrow valleys. Examples:- Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra all cut deep gorges. These rivers are older than Himalayas. They are antecedent because they continued flowing in their course despite the upliftment of area as Himalayas.
