The plateau of Africa is higher in south and in east. The northern and western parts of continent are relatively low lying areas. It is due to altitude only that despite being close to equator, the Kenyan and Ethiopian highlands don’t have Tropical hardwood vegetation.
b, c, d. The great rift valley of Africa runs from south of Lake Malawi northwards to the Dead Sea in Israel. The rift valley formation has separated Madagascar from mainland and is also responsible for formation of several lakes like Malawi, Tanganyika etc. and seas and gulfs like Red Sea, Gulf of Suez, gulf of Aqabah/Aqfuaba.
But the students must remember that Lake Victoria is not a rift valley formation. It is the biggest lake of Africa and it is a structural/geological depression.
