Among the following statements find out the incorrect one
Geysers are fountains of hot water where water is ejected with an explosion while in hot water springs water gently seeps out to the surface without any explosion.
The upper course of river is marked by vertical erosion while the middle course is marked by lateral erosion.
Tide-less and sheltered coasts are good for formation of deltas.
Deltaic coasts are more suited sites for constructing harbours than estuarine coasts.
Statement 1- Geysers and hot springs are found in volcanic regions. Here the underground water is heated by the interior heat of the earth and it rises to surface either as a geyser or spring. Generally, it is the gases seeping out of heated rocks that trigger explosive geysers. Statement 2- As the river descends steep slopes, under the influence of gravity, the downward cutting dominates in the upper course. In the middle course as the velocity of flow is reduced, there is more of lateral cutting of banks than vertical corrosion. Statement 3- At coasts marked by tides and swift currents, the sediments will be carried away thereby preventing formation of delta. Also, the river forming a delta must not have large lakes or dams in its course that could filter off sediments. Statement 4- Estuarine coasts are better suited for ports/harbours as they are deeper than deltaic coasts.
