Saraswati Samman is an annual award bestowed upon Indian citizens for his outstanding literary work in any Indian language mentioned in Schedule VIII of Indian Constitution published in past 10 years. It was established in 1991 by KK Birla Foundation. It carries a cash price of 15 Lakh Rupees, a citation and a plaque of Goddess Saraswati. Harivansh Rai Bacchan was the first recipient of this award.
