Context: All major schemes of the Ministry of Women and Child Development have been classified under 3 umbrella schemes viz. Mission Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti.

• The step is taken for effective implementation of various schemes and programmes of the Ministry.

Objective

• To address gaps in State action for women and children and to promote inter-ministerial and inter- sectoral convergence to create gender equitable and child centred legislation, policies and programmes.
• To ensure well-nourished and happy children growing in a safe and secure environment and empower women;
• By providing them with an environment which is accessible, affordable, reliable and free from all forms of discrimination and violence.
• Empowerment and protection of women and children and ensuring their wholesome development is crucial for sustainable and equitable development of the country.

The Umbrella schemes
Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0

• It will include Umbrella ICDS - Anganwadi Services, Poshan Abhiyan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls, National Creche Scheme.

Mission VATSALYA

• It will include Child Protection Services and Child Welfare Services.

Mission Shakti (Mission for Protection and Empowerment for Women)

• SAMBAL (One Stop Centre, Mahila Police Volunteer, Women's Helpline/Swadhar/Ujjawala/Widow Homes etc.), and
• SAMARTHYA (Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Creche, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana/ Gender Budgeting/Research).

About Mission Poshan 2.0

• Poshan 2.0 scheme in an umbrella scheme covering the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Anganwadi Services, Poshan Abhiyaan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls and National Creche Scheme.
• The supplementary nutrition programme and the Poshan Abhiyaan under the Women and Child Development Ministry have been merged to launch Mission Poshan 2.0.
• Aim: to strengthen nutritional content, delivery, outreach, and outcome.
• It will focus on overall health-wellbeing of the beneficiary and integrated approach in the delivery of nutrition services will reinforce the fight against malnutrition.
• Prioritizing 112 aspirational districts, will develop practices that will nurture health, wellness and immunity of children and pregnant women thereby making a concerted effort towards eradicating malnutrition from its roots.

About Mission Vatsalya

• Mission Vatsalya will look into child protection services and child welfare services.
• Aim: To create an inclusive society and nurture individuals to reach their potential.

About Mission Shakti

• Aim: Helping women to achieve economic independence by enabling them to have independent employment and income has been accorded the highest priority.
• Women will be better-placed to overcome the negative social pressures and gender biases operating against them and to unshackle themselves through group identity and activity.
• Promotion of Women's Self-Help Groups (WSHGs) has therefore been adopted as a key strategy for achieving women's empowerment.
• For upliftment of WSHGs different Schemes like Micro Credit Support, Seed Money, Financial Assistance to BLF & Drudgery Reduction.

Objectives

• Formation, gradation and promotion of Self-Help Groups.
• Establishment of Bank linkage of WSHGs.
• Financial Assistance to WSHGs.
• Imparting Training for complete Management of WSHGs.
• Strengthening and capacity building training to WSHGs.
• Conducting Exposure visits to WSHGs.
• Skill based Training; Market Linkage & Credit linkage based on key activities.
• Production, Promotion & Marketing of products of WSHGs.

Target Group

• Women Self-help groups.

Coverage

• All WSHGs operating inside the State.
