Explanation:

Swadeshi movement gathered lot of popularity and people boycotted foreign products and even burnt British cloth in public.   The sale of English goods fell and Bombay Mills worked overtime to meet the demand for Swadeshi textiles.  The movement turned into a matter of national and personal pride to wear coarse dhotis woven on local handlooms rather than fashionable Manchester cottons.  The movement gave impetus to local industries like Bengal Chemical Works and encouraged visionaries like Jameshedji Tata to open his famous steel plant in erstwhile Bihar.   Gandhi termed the Swadeshi movement as the soul of self rule in India.
