self respect movement was founded in 1925 by E. V. Ramasamy (also called as Periyar by his devoted followers) in Tamil Nadu, India against Brahminism. Prarthana Samaj was founded by Atmaram Panduranga with the help of Keshav Chandra Sen in 1867, with an aim to make people believe in one God and worship only one God. The Servants of India Society was formed in Pune, Maharashtra, on June 12, 1905 by Gopal Krishna Gokhale, who left the Deccan Education Society to form this association.
