The operating principle of hydraulic press is Pascal’s principle. Pascal's principle : Pressure applied to an enclosed fluid is transmitted undiminished to every part of the fluid, as well as to the walls of the container. A common application of this is a hydraulic lift used to raise a car off the ground so it can be repaired at a garage. A hydraulic press is a device (see machine press) using a hydraulic cylinder to generate a compressive force. It uses the hydraulic equivalent of a mechanical lever, and was also known as a Bramah press after the inventor, Joseph Bramah, of England.
