Context: After six years and 1,75,000 man hours of restoration work, the tomb of Rahim Khan, the commander-in-chief of the Mughal army, in Nizamuddin will be opened to the public.
Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khanan

• Period:17 December 1556 – 1 October 1627
• He was a poet who lived in India during the rule of Mughal emperor Akbar, who was his mentor.
• He was sun of the Bairum Khan.
• He was one of the Navratnas of Akbar.
• He was having excellent command over Sanskrit.

He wrote two books on astrology in Sanskrit:

• Khetakautukam
• Dwatrimshadyogavali

Rahim was also a poet par excellence and his poetry and dohas are compared with those by Bhakti poets Surdas, Tulsidas and Kabir.

Tomb of Abdul Rahim Khan iKhana

• His tomb is situated near Humayun's Tomb, in New Delhi.
• It was built by him for his wife in 1598, and his body was placed in it in 1627.
• Monument’s double dome was originally clad with marble, which is said to have been quarried for use in Safdarjung’s tomb in the mid-18th century.
• Mausoleum is having geometrical and floral patterns, swastika and peacock motifs.
