The Purvanchal Mountains cover the states of Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram. They are composed of sedimentary hills and also covered with dense forests.
The range is an eastern extension of the Himalayan Range System, in northeastern India.
