Chitta Ranjan Das (Deshbandhu) (1870-1925). A great nationalist and famous jurist, he defended Aurobindo Ghose in the Alipore Conspiracy Case (1908) and was the defense counsel in the Dacca Conspiracy Case. He was the elected President of the Congress session held in Ahmedabad in 1921. He was a founder of the Swarajya Party. He presided over the All-India Trade Union Congress at Lahore in 1923 and at Ahmedabad in 1924.
