With regard to the V Schedule for Scheduled Areas consider following:

1. It is for the protection of the interests and cultural identity of the tribals residing in parts of the country other than hills of the North-East.

2. These areas are known as the Scheduled areas and the provisions regarding them are enshrined in the V Schedule of our constitution.

3. Parliament has powers to change these by ordinary legislation without amending the constitution.
