Data for 2020-21 indicates that the computer software and hardware sector attracted the highest FDI equity inflow of US$ 26.15 billion, followed by construction (infrastructure) activities (US$ 7.88 billion), services sector (US$ 5.06 billion) and trading (US$ 2.61 billion).
China was the largest recipient of foreign direct investment in 2020 as the coronavirus outbreak spread across the world during the course of the year, with the Chinese economy having brought in $163 billion in inflows.
Singapore remained the top source of foreign direct investment into the country for the third consecutive fiscal at $17.41 billion. During the last financial year, India attracted $5.64 billion in FDI from Mauritius, according to the data by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
