Investigate about the assassination of Mrs. Indira Gandhi
Sarkaria Commission (submitted its report in 1988) was created to examine the working of existing arrangements between centre and states in all spheres. The commission made 247 recommendations to improve centre-state relations. The most important was: establishing permanent Inter-State council under Article 263. It suggested: Centre should consult states before making laws on subjects of concurrent list; Governor should be a person from outside the state and should be appointed after the consultation with CM of the state.
