The Satavahanas society was matrilineal society. Women played a central role in their functioning. The were the first to issue coins with their rulers embossed in it. The founder of the Satavahana dynasty was Simuka. He and his successors established their authority from the mouth of the Krishna to the entire Deccan plateau.
