In a joint sitting of both the Houses of the Parliament, a bill has to be passed by
Simple majority
Absolute Majority
Special Majority
Both absolute and special majority
Such a sitting is summoned by the President to settle a deadlock between the two Houses on a bill. The bill is passed by a simple majority i.e. majority of the number of members present and voting. Since Lok sabha has over double the number of members in Rajya Sabha, LS has the upper hand in getting bills through a joint sitting.
