Consider the following with reference to Censure Motion and No Confidence Motion?
Which of the above is/are correct?
1, 2 and 3 only
3 only
2 and 4 only
1, 3 and 4 only
Statement 1, 2 and 3: No-confidence motion need not state the reasons for its adoption in the Lok Sabha, whereas Censure motion should. Censure motion can be moved against an individual minister or a group of ministers or the entire council of ministers. No-confidence motion can only be moved against the entire council of ministers. Censure motion is moved for censuring the council of ministers for specific policies and actions. If it is passed in the Lok Sabha, the council of ministers need not resign from the office.
Statement 4: No-confidence motion is moved for ascertaining the confidence of Lok Sabha in the council of ministers. If it is passed in the Lok Sabha, the council of ministers must resign from office. The motion needs the support of 50 members to be admitted.
