Can strained Indo-China relations affect the supply of raw material /cheap input material for any Indian Industry from China and how long it can go?
Basically in geopolitics both trade and war goes hand in hand. If you are hampering trade with your bilateral then other will definately punch you in terms of anti dumping duties, tariffs to your products in their nation. In terms of China they always have a trade surplus with India and if you see the trend of last five years the trade deficit of India with respect to China gradually going to decrease and still in that process. But this doesn't mean we completely going to become "self reliant" with in a year or upcoming decade because most of our trade with China in terms of raw materials like of pharmaceutical, and intermediate goods like steel, electrical transformers, circuit etc. And from last decade onwards we see a large fusion of technology from China either in terms of new gadgets like smartphone and computers or in terms of advanced application. They providing it all this with less fair because at their labour cost is much less. Now what is the best way forward to reduce our dependency over China are as follows Firstly make our neighborhood relationship stronger like the way China uses both Nepal and Pakistan to creates tension in the region whether in terms of economic blockade,we do same by boosting our nation's with Vietnam, Myanmar and Philippines. Secondly, use the skilled labour returning from gulf by engaging with companies returning from China to invest in India(by saying we provide you skilled labour, land and capital which they already have to them) At last create new avenues in north east India because they are rich source of minerals, hydropower capacity and has potential to create a global tourist hotspot. Development leads to development if we create the path for our coming generations today then to make change in what so ever sphere it automatically bears fruit with in a span of 25 years when next generation is ready to bear that challenge.
