Context: Recently, Chhattisgarh Govt launches ‘Spandan Campaign’ to check suicide and fratricide among police personnel.
About ‘Spandan Campaign’

• It aimed  to check mental stress and depression among their personnel.
• Under the campaign, authorities will be conducting interactive programmes and arranging counselling sessions, music and yoga therapies for the police personnels.
• A mobile application is also being prepared for monitoring the problems of police personnel.
• The campaign will also make arrangements for yoga classes for the police personnel at all the district head quarters. Cooperation of local yoga teachers have been sought to conduct these classes.
• Also, the police officers have been instructed to the redress grievances of police personnel in regular intervals. 
• The superintendents have been instructed to visit police stations regularly and make arrangements for recreational activities.

Issue

• The decision to launch the campaign was taken after the state reported over 50 cases of suicide by police personnel, and a number of incidents of policemen attacking their colleagues in the past two years.
