Explanation:

Parliament's amending power when it comes to fundamental rights is covered under Article 13(2) which provides that the state shall not enact any 'law' that takes away or abridges one or more fundamental rights. If any such law is made, the law shall be declared as unconstitutional and void to the extent of such violation.

The Supreme Court of India has interpreted this Article in many ways till a final situation was reached in 1973. In the Keshavananda Bharti vs State of Kerala, 1973, Supreme Court held that Parliament, in it's exercise of it's powers under Article 368, can amend any part of the Constitution including fundamental rights. However, such an amending power of the Parliament is not unlimited but it is limited to the extend of not destroying the Basic Structure of the Constitution. The Supreme Court introduced the 'doctrine of basic structure' in this case only.

So, the current position is that Parliament can amend any part of the Constitution including fundamental rights as long as such an amendment does not destroy the basic structure of the Constitution.
