Recently, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister has approved the extension of Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY). It has been extended for a period of three years i.e. from 31st March 2020 to 31st March 2023. It will allow initially an assured rate of return of 7.40 % per annum for the year 2020-21 per annum and thereafter to be reset every year. It is a Pension Scheme announced by the Government of India exclusively for the senior citizens aged 60 years and above. The scheme is exempted from Goods & Services Tax (GST). The Scheme can be purchased offline as well as online through Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India which has been given the sole privilege to operate this Scheme. The Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, through its implementing agency will make provisions to help beneficiaries get Aadhaar number. Hence all statements are correct.
