Which of the following statements is/are correct with regard to Vitamin D:
1. Vitamin D is essential dietary vitamin
2. Vitamin D is produced in the skin by ultraviolet light.
3. Mothers milk is rich in vitamin D

1, 2 & 3
Only statements 1&2 are correct.
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in very few foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. It is also produced endogenously when ultraviolet rays from sunlight strike the skin and trigger vitamin D synthesis. Vitamin D obtained from sun exposure, food, and supplements is biologically inert and must undergo two hydroxylations in the body for activation. Breastmilk doesn't naturally contain high levels of vitamin D as, in the past, babies would absorb most of their vitamin D from exposure to sunlight. Vitamin D and 25-OH-vitamin D are 10 to 20% of breastmilk levels and 1 to 2% of maternal blood levels, respectively. Hence option 4th is correct.
