The Governor of a State may be removed from the office by the President
At the request of Chief Minister
On the advice of Lok Ayukta
On the advice of Union Cabinet
On the advice of Attorney-General of India
The Governor may be removed by the President at any time. The Constitution does not lay down any grounds upon which a governor may be removed by the President. If the Governor continues to enjoy the pleasure of the President, he/she can have a normal term of five years. Now ,the President is bound by the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers under Article 74, so it is the central government which appoints or removes the Governor.
