Consider the following statements:
I. 100th Constitutional Amendment Bill was introduced in Rajya Sabha to provide 33% reservation to women in Parliament and State Assemblies.
II. Bills originating in and pending before Rajya Sabha, do not lapse even on the dissolution of Lok Sabha.
Which of above statements are correct?
Only I
Only II
I and II
Neither I nor II
1st statement is incorrect because 108th Constitutional Amendment Bill in 2008 was introduced in the Parliament of India proposed to amend the Constitution of India to reserve 33% of all seats in the Lower house of Parliament of India, the Lok Sabha, and in all state legislative assemblies for women. The seats were proposed to be reserved in rotation and would have been determined by draw of lots in such a way that a seat would be reserved only once in three consecutive general elections.
